18th Annual Conference of European Society of Criminology was held in Sarajevo on 29th August. The conference was titled Crimes Against Humans and Crimes Against Humanity- Implications for Modern Criminology. The theme of radicalisation was explored at the conference mainly under two panels organised by Dominic Kudlacek – Radicalisation within the digital age: vulnerability and prevention and Radicalisation within the digital age: the meaning of new media. PERICLES project was presented at the conference by Maja Halilovic-Pastuovic (Trinity College Dublin) and Zlatan Buljko (FMON). Different tools developed by PERICLES were presented. These are: i) an updated cyber-space detection system capable of identifying online extremist activities by navigating the Dark Web, ii) an interactive visualisation tool mapping the relevant actors in the radicalisation domain, iii) a multi-agency vulnerability tool that combines a variety of risk indicators, iv) a dedicated family care package which will serve as a useful instrument to support, inform and advice families and v) skills and competencies tool for training the security agents. Also, some preliminary results from Ireland and Bosnia were presented.
