PERICLES Consortium Meets Members of Advisory Board In Hannover
The Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony in Hannover hosted the PERICLES project meeting from 4th to 6th February. Consortium partners presented detailed updates and future work plans to two members of an advisory board on 5 February and received the feedback from the advisory board the following day. The advisory board consisted of Cecile Kosterman and Dr Marc Sageman. Cecile Kosterman is a Head of Police Service for Regional Operation Cooperation in Amsterdam. She is also a General Commander for Large-scale and Special Performances. Dr Marc Sageman is the author of Understanding Terror Networks, Leaderless Jihad, Misunderstanding Terrorism, and several studies on the process of radicalization. His book, Turning to Political Violence, describes a new model of radicalisation and tests it on various campaigns of political violence spanning two centuries and four continents.
Dr Sageman has extensively consulted with most national security agencies in the U.S. and the West as well as law enforcement agencies. He has lectured at dozens of universities in the U.S. and abroad.
On the second day of the meeting Dr Sageman gave a public lecture titled ‘Turning to Political Violence: The Emergence of Terrorism’.
